News : Changes to hours and available services
Due to the current health crisis and it's knock-on effects Tankproof I.T.'s opening hours and available services are changing.
New opening hours are 1:30pm to 5:30pm Monday to Friday. Feel free to text, e-mail or leave a voicemail at any time but these are the times when I will generally be available until Victoria's schools return to normal.
Repair of laptop and desktop computers will occur via prearranged collection or drop-off only.
In-person tuition, either as a separate task or part of a repair will not be possible. This frankly sucks as it's frequently called for but that's just how it is.
In-home repairs, such as resolving internet connection problems will not be possible. In many (but not all) cases internet issues can be resolved by turning off your equipment for a short time then turning everything back on (power-cycling) and/or consulting your internet service provider.
E.g. Turn off your router (and NBN unit/box if you have one) for 10-15 seconds by disconnecting them from mains power. If all the lights go out you've done it correctly. Turn them back on and wait 2-5 minutes. You can also try restarting client devices if required (e.g. reboot your computer etc).
If your connection remains down the next step is to contact your Internet service provider. A contact number for your provider should appear on a recent invoice. Alternatively look this up by using your mobile phone’s browser or calling a friend with working internet to look it up for you.
Remote support is being utilised when appropriate and possible. It comes with it's own shortcomings but is a valuable tool, especially at this time.
I'd like to thank everyone for their understanding at this time. I hope you're all coping and would encourage anyone who is not to ring a friend for a chat.
